Off to New York I go! Well, in a couple more hours anyway. Not too much to report today.
I will be eating off Keto today. I have kept it pretty close, but noticed my carbs are just about at the limit. I ate a couple of little snacks just now, which for sure puts me over.
Still, not bad the rest of the day.
Sleep last night was a little rough. I’m pretty sure it is just excitement for going on this trip.
12:18 am to 7:15 am. Once I got to sleep, all was pretty good until the morning. Had to get up early today, to take the youngest to school.
Bags are all pretty much packed, just need the phone charge etc which I grab last minute. Shuttle comes to get us in about an hour and a half.

This time tomorrow I will be in the air, and on my way to New York!
Pretty much have things finished up around here. Just packing up the last odds and ends.
So far this week, I have kept my eating in check. IF eating done as well. Tomorrow I have meals planned out already, so I can finish off some of my food. I have already have a few temptations in my head. “You are going off Keto soon anyway, lets snack” Bad brain, bad!
I have a couple of goals while I am there, so I don’t go too overboard on food. At least I hope. I’m going to use Bitesnap to take pictures of what I eat. I also want to make sure I am getting sleep.
Wednesday
Food:
03/21 – MyFitnessPal – 1417 Calories, 11 net carbs. It was pretty much two meals for the day. The Pizza I had was pretty filling for it’s size. Then I had Salad, meatballs, and pork rinds for dinner.
Sleep:
12:37 am to 8:33 am. I we to bed a little later. Finished off book Book 3 in The Expanse series. Still wasn’t too late for bed, but then I made the mistake of letting my mind start racing. Things to get done, trying to plan my moves for the next day. A good 10-15 minutes of that. I realized it was getting much later, and went to bed. Yet, the brain was kicking into overdrive. Tossing and turning until after 1 am, so I went to grab some nyquil zzz. Eventually, I got to sleep.
Tomorrow
Last things for tomorrow. Getting my laptop ready, and making sure I don’t have anything in my backpack that would get flagged. Like my multitool. I’ve charged up some things already. I have my camera ready. Will finish packing, then hopefully, be ready to go a few hours before we need to get going. I will probably try to get in one last blog post before I head off.
80 days in already. This feel like they have moving fast paced around here. So much getting ready to leave on our trip.
Pizza
I have been wanting to start expanding my meals beyond the same thing I normally eat. Though, I have been fine with the same old boring meals so far. Sometimes, just have to spice it up.
Let’s talk pizza. I think almost everyone likes pizza. People have their different styles, but overall pizza is something almost every person eats. I have had it lucky enough to only crave pizza a couple of times while I have been doing Keto.
I have searched a few versions of healthier choices. When I was doing Whole30 back in the day, the choice was cauliflower pizza crust. I tried it back then, and it was pretty decent. Though, it was a little weak, and couldn’t hold much up for toppings. I heard people talk about fathead pizza crust. Finally, I heard about a chicken crust pizza. Honestly, it sounds a little weird to me. I heard people raving about it, so I figured I had to give it a try.
The Crust:
Tyson chunk canned chicken – 217g
Grated Parmesan Cheese – 29g
1 Large egg
Spices – bit of garlic powder, onion powered, and Italian seasoning
Toppings: Mezzetta homemade Marinara – 70g
Lucerene Shredded Mozzarella – 45g
Hormel Pepperoni slices – 14 slices (Yes, I fit 14 slices of pepperoni on that little pizza)
I would so make this again, and will soon. Next time, I might try adding other toppings. Maybe make a combo type pizza. I wasn’t sure what to expect out of the crust. It was able to hold the toppings fine. It was more flexible when it was hot. As it cooled enough for me to eat, it was perfect. It even had a crunch to it.
So, if you are on the fence about making it, give it a try. I prefer this much more then a cauliflower crust.
Tuesday
Just a real quick recap. I have not been getting out for walks. I just have so much going on, it seems to be the thing I let go. Hopefully, I can get going after New York.
Sleep:
After having a bad night, I had a pretty great night last night. 12:09 am to 8:30 am. Had a bit of trouble getting comfortable to get to sleep. Then all seemed fine. Been having some crazy dreams too. Enough to remember them some.
Food:
MyFitnessPal – 03/20 – 1398 Calories, 14 net carbs. I found some new salad dressing at Sprouts (like Trader Joe’s, farmers type market) the other day. I don’t know how, but they have no calories, no carbs, and no sugar. There was a bunch of different versions too. I grabbed a french, and creamy bacon. I’ve only tried the french, and it was pretty good. Not as good as the normal super carb version though. I also found they have Miracle noodles there, so I don’t have to order from Amazon if I don’t want.

Friday night is lift off. I have been getting so excited. We added another thing to do on our trip. I’m going to take so many pictures 🙂
I am tired today. Last night I had a rough night of sleep.
I did my reading at 11 pm, then was off to bed by midnight. I even fell asleep pretty quickly.
Fitbit has 12:05 am to 8:30 am, but that isn’t exactly correct. Though Those were the times, I woke up much earlier. I had a weird dream, with all these strange animals. Like I was a real life Pokemon trainer. I was running in this field, and suddenly something grabbed my face. It was like tentacles or something. I gave myself a damn jump scare haha. This was like 3:30 am. I had checked my face, everything was fine. I thought it was funny that jolted me out of sleep like that. Then I tried getting back to sleep. It wasn’t happening. My mind was racing. Thinking about everything. New York, meeting some friends, meals to make, it was all going on. I watched over an hour go by without any more rest. I went ahead and got up to use the restroom, hoping that would help. Still no dice. My wife had something wake her up, so she was up too.
I could feel I was tired enough to sleep, but the brain was saying no. My wife started checking her phone. I could see the glow. I started to be bothered by the glow of the clock on our cable box. Then the little light on the fan. I even tried pulling up the covers over my eyes to block it out. Still, I did not sleep.
I was on the verge of just getting up and starting the day off. I just knew I was too tired for that. So I figured I’d mess around on my phone too. All this was another hour. Now it is like 6:30 am. I give sleep another try. I think I got to sleep for a coupel of minutes, but was waking up on and off until I just got up at 8:30 am. I had to get my bowling balls shipped off.
I’m lookign forward to sleep tonight!

MyFitnessPal – 03/19 – 1545 Calories, 16 net carbs. Higher net carbs. I finished off some tomatoes that were going bad.
Tomorrow
Well, I have almost everything to make myself some Chicken crust pizza. I need to grab some sauce tomorrow, then I think I am ready to give it a try.
Bowling balls are shipped out. We have our animals being taken care of. I think just about everything is wrapped up. Just about ready for the trip.
Keto, is it contagious? 🙂 Today my wife told me two people are work are going Keto. My wife is even thinking she will do it once we get back from New York.
Well, I’m hoping she gives it a try, and the people at her work do it too. Then they can all support each other. I may even have to meal prep for the both of it, to help her out.
Tonight, I bowled alright. 173, 230, 190 for a 593 series. So decent series before I head out to the Nationals tournament.
Week 11 in Review
I had a pretty good week after the party weekend. I have been consistently losing weight, and I don’t want it to stop!
Weight loss:
This week, I dropped 9.2 lbs. This puts me at 41.4 lbs since January 1st.

Great week. Had too low of carbs one day, and I felt it. I was really hungry that day. I felt everything went well this week though. A great bounce back after having a couple of off days previously.
Sleep:
Well, the past two day, I got all the sleep. Though I struggled to get myself to bed when I needed to.
I had a would of after 2:30 am nights. I can’t keep doing that. So I am back to the read at 11 pm, sleep at midnight.
This Week
Keep going strong. Friday night is travel night. Almost time to get to New York.
It is the end of the weekend. I didn’t get too much done today. It was more of a just chill day.
Checking more and more for things on my upcoming trip. I’ve been checking out an app this weekend called Bitesnap. I want to make food tracking easy on my trip.
Overall, it was pretty easy to use. You take a picture, and then it gives you options for what it thinks it is. It thought my Pork Rinds were chicken or something else. Easy enough to search and add though. Worse case, I just use it to keep a record of what I eat. It was pretty high for calorie count. The Chicken Wings I ate were a lot less in calories than what this app showed. Luckily, I’m not worried about it for that.
Saturday
Food:
MyFitnessPal – 03/17 – 1646 Calories, 8 net carbs. Had Togo’s and Wingstop. Kept everything in control. Didn’t have any massive hunger pains later on. Just the two meals. I still like to get three meals in, but sometimes it is hard to do.
Sleep:
12:12 am to 8:57 am. Pretty decent sleep overall. I did have some trouble getting to sleep. Felt like I woudl just about get into dreamland, then suddenly wake back up. Hopefully, getting back to a regular schedule will help fix that.
Tomorrow
It feels like I have a ton to do tomorrow. I need to ship out my bowling balls, go to Costco, take body measurements, get my kid from school, Go bowling later with some of my other bowling balls, and plenty of addition things. Whew! 🙂
It’s new pants day! So, I have notice my pants are really big on me. I have some from Duluth trading company, and I like them a lot. They are just pricey. So we were at Walmart today, and I wanted to try on some jeans. I figure I can get some cheaper jeans for a bit, and order more Duluth ones later.
My current jeans are a 48 waist. My bowling pants are 46, so I knew I was there. I took a 44 and a 42 in to try on. I decided I would try the smallest ones one first, and to my surprise they fit. A little snug in some parts, but I had no trouble buttoning them. I did a few fist pumps in the mirror haha. Very happy to see progress in other places besides looking at the scale.
Friday
Food:
MyFitnessPal – 03/16 – 1724 Calories, 9 net carbs. I felt like I ate a lot last night. Which was fine. I wanted to ward off any hunger I had the previous day.
Sleep:
3:34 am to 8 am. Oh man sleep was horrible. I let myself go down the rabbit hole. I started thinking about restaurants, and the places we want to see in New York. I was doing street views, and reading review. All sorts of things. My mind was racing, and I wasn’t sleeping. I felt it today. So I plan to get to bed here soon. Just want to get this blog post in, and hit up some reading.
Tomorrow
Originally, I was going to use my bowling balls to bowl this Monday, but I think I might pack them up to ship tomorrow. I just want to give it extra time to get there. We still have a few things to finish up. I might have to make a Costco trip, or wait until Monday. I’ll also have raiding in World of Warcraft.
And I am back to the 320s. 329 lbs this morning. 🙂
Today was pretty decent overall. Got a few things done at home. Cooked some different foods, and finished up a few more things for the upcoming trip.
Ate a little bit higher on Calories today, but that is OK. Also ate a bit outside my eating window.
NerdFitness
The next 4 week challenge is starting over at Nerdfitness. I have my challenge thread posted up Tateman – Escape from New York. Of course, my trip is coming right at the end of the first week.
Now I know, I will not eat Keto while I am there. At least not 100%. I do however want to try to keep myself aware of the food I am eating, while still letting myself have a good time. I will get frustrated with my usual tracking in MyFitnessPal. So, I am going to try a food journal there. I am testing out an app this weekend called Bitesnap: Photo Food Tracker and Calorie Counter. It looks liek I can take a picture, and it can estimate calories and such from the image. Barcodes can also be scanned.
I also want to make sure I get plenty of rest (assuming I’ll have lots of walking and traveling around to do)
Also, I need to just be the tourist. I’m going to try to take a lot of pictures, and see and experience all I can.
Thursday
Food:
MyFitnessPal Food Diary 03/15 – 1318 Calories, 8 net carbs. I got hungry last night. I stayed up late reading, and I could hear my stomach growling. Too small of a dinner. Just had a couple of eggs and 3 pieces of bacon for dinner. Had a late lunch, and wanted to get done eating before bowling.
Sleep:
12:53 am to 7:40 am. Getting closer to bed time. I just felt like I really wanted to read more, so I did. I’m hoping to finish up my book before my trip, then I can take the new one with me.
It has been awhile now since we got our Casper mattress. I think it was worth every penny. It’s been good enough that we wish we had it with us when we were in hotels 🙂 I still have some wake ups and small pain, but it is because of how I sleep with my arms. I’ve tried lying other ways, but I haven’t been able to fall asleep with them yet.
Tomorrow
Kid has bowling, and I need to make a stop at the store for some items. The countdown is getting closer. This time next week, I will be in the air!
It has been raining this week. I’ve been pretty busy getting things ready for New York next week.
Had bowling tonight. Started off with a 185. Then things got worse. A few splits next game dropped me to 165. Finally, I got my act together. I made one little adjustment, and I was striking gold. 265 the last game. Save my series 615. Not too shabby 🙂
It is hard to believer that one little thing can make such a big difference. Though, it seems to be that way with weight loss too. One little tweak can be the start to get things moving.
Overall, I am feeling emotionally well. It helps to have that downward trend on the scale. There has also been other losses with the tape measure. My neck isn’t progressing as much, but that could just be a bad measurement. Everywhere else I am shrinking.
I told my wife today, that I need new jeans. They are so big on me now. I can actually pull them up over my stomach and button them haha.
Wednesday
Food:
MyFitnessPal Food Diary – 03/14 – 1612 Calories, 1 net carb. I think I needed more carbs yesterday. I felt hungry. But I did hit my fat and protein numbers. I just think I didn’t have any kind of vegetable last night to help me out.
Sleep:
I wasn’t on time with my sleep again, but at least I was in before 1 am!
12:42 am to 7:43 am. Had to get up early to take my kid to school. Will probably need to tomorrow as well. Tonight, I get to sleep on time, and read beforehand!
The rest of the week
Still getting everything set for the trip next week. So very excited 🙂 I’m thinking about not worrying about getting out to walk as the focus of exercise. Instead I might try to meet daily step goals. Maybe this will get me out more.
I’m also looking into some recipes to make. I’ve seen fathead pizza, and chicken crust pizza. I’m tempted to make something, just need to list out what I need for it. I’ve been trying to find some Keto friendly spaghetti sauces as well. I can have them with Miracle Noodles, or maybe zucchini noodles (assuming it does have too many carbs)
Whoa, forgot about blogging yesterday. I need to make sure this isn’t a habit. I want to get down everything each day.
On the positive front, my weight is continuing to go down. I hit 330 this morning, so I am back to where I was at before the Keto break. At least lazy Keto, and Intermittent fasting are going great. Yesterday, I broke my fast late. I picked up my son from school before eating. Then I was also late on the end window. Didn’t stop till 7 ish.
I was more hungry yesterday. Mostly from weird eating times. I snacked on some salami since I knew dinner was coming in a bit.
Sleep:
Ohh, I’ve been slipping hard here. I’m having trouble getting myself to bed. The last two nights, I haven’t gone to bed before 2 am.

Very bad. So tonight, I try getting back on track. No real excuse. Just my brain saying screw this, and wanting to stay up. Plus, I feel tired during the day from this. It is harder to make good decisions for heath, and easier to make bad ones. So I have to nip this in the bud, tonight!

I need to get some cooking done today. Shipping information is up on the bowl.com site. Now I know hoe long, and how much it will be to ship my bowling balls out to New York. Now I need to prep everything.
It is raining most of the week, so I don’t know about getting out for walks, plus my son is out early this week for conferences.
I feel a little overwhelmed, but I most think it is because of how tired I feel. Getting some good sleep should help that, I hope.
