My Journey to a Healthy Me, Day 120

Week 17 is in the books. I’ve been busy so far today. I got my day 1 of C25k repeat in. Went off and got my blood work done. Then came home to get some food. I still need to pick up my son from school, and bowl tonight. I may get to making some food, but that might wait until tomorrow.

Week 17 review

Had, and still having a bit of an emotional roller coaster this week. My wife lost her job, so the future is up in the air as to what we are going to do. I think even if she gets a job in this area, we are still going to move this summer. There is the possibility, we leave the bay area. We just have to see how things shake up. Mostly I have been OK, but I have had a few freak out moments.

Weight loss:

Overall this week, it was a stall. I lost 0.8 lbs this week. Still total since January 1st is 51.2 lbs lost. I expected a stall week. I just hope this next week is back on the losing tip.

I did well with my eating window as well. Eating after 11:30 am, and before 6 pm each day. Tracked water. I have had a few days of low blood sugar. Mostly the mornings. So I may need to adjust something for this next week. I am just not sure what. Maybe more calories, maybe less fasting, maybe more carbs, or maybe more fats. I’ll have to experiment a little to see.

I did read each day before heading to bed. I also had a couple of freak out nights before heading to bed. Really only one bad night. The rest were decent.

Exercise:

For the first time in awhile, I can say I had a week of exercise. Mostly. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Completed Week 1 of C25k. Just wanted to have Sunday as the rest day, but had a moment on Thursday that I just didn’t want to do anything. Still, I am pretty happy overall. Only two days that I did not hit 6,000 steps.

This week

This next week, I am upping the step goal to 7,000. I am repeating Week 1 of C25k. Today I did the first day.

I’m looking to make some new recipes this week.

I’m also thinking it is time to get some things ready to move. We have lots of time, but getting things ready to donate is good.

My Journey to a Healthy Me, Day 119

Today has been a rest day. Mostly, because I just didn’t feel like getting out there to walk. We went to watch the new Avengers: Infinity War movie this morning. Then my older sin and I went to go do some Pokemon Go raiding.

I did get the dishes done today at least! haha

Saturday

I bowled in a tournament yesterday, and went for a bit of a walk while playing Pokemon Go. Nothing major, just getting steps in.

Food:

04/28 MyFitnessPal – 1699 Calories, 13 net carbs. 77 oz of water tracked.

Sleep:

11:57 pm to 8:10 am. 7 hrs 28 mins total. 16 x awake for 45 mins. Had a little trouble getting to sleep. I was trying to lay in a different position with mixed results.

Exercise:

6,510 steps. 138 active minutes. Pretty decent for bowling, and some walking around.

Tomorrow

So a busy day ahead. I need to get my run done in the morning. Then I am off to get blood work done. Then I need to come home to get in my weekly summary threads going. Finally wrapping up with some bowling.

I’d also like to get some cooking done tomorrow sometime.

Tomorrow, I also need to let some people know that I won’t be bowling in the summer. At least, not both leagues. If things work out, my wife would get a job in the area. This still means that we move this summer though. Another option is my wife gets a job in another location, and we leave the area. We have talked about moving out of state in the past, because it is just too expensive here. Especially, in the bay area.

My Journey to a Healthy Me, Day 118

I bowled in the Star of the Game tournament today. I did a little better then my average going in. I enter with a 200 average. (I’m lower this year, but last year was a good year). I bowled 232, 187, 193 for a 612 series. So mostly happy. I won’t win anything, I don’t think. It is a handicap tournament, and my higher average gave me a lower handicap. I know one guy on our lanes bowler extremely well.

Went for a walk tonight to make sure I got in my steps. Nothing really pushing, I just wanted to get in the steps. Then watched the end of the Sharks vs Knights hockey game.

I’ve been bad lately. I haven’t been cleaning the dishes, so they are pilling up a little, and making me not want to cook. So time I get that done.

Friday

I finished C25k yesterday, and got in lots of steps. I also just about finished Book 5 in the Expanse series. I will be getting into book 6 tonight. No idea what I will ready next, but I have to find something quick!

Food:

04/27 MyFitnessPal – 1512 Calories, 11 net carbs. 44 oz tracked. I did notice I was lower in water yesterday. I may have missed one. Blood sugar numbers were fine.

Sleep:

12:18 am to 8 am. 7 hrs 4 mins. 20 x awake for 38 mins. Got into reading right after 11 pm, and got heading off to bed about 12:05 am. I seemed to get to sleep quick enough, but did wake up a bit. My neck has still be hurting. So sometimes I get uncomfortable while I sleep.

Exercise:

8,717 steps. 61 active minutes. Finished C25k week 1. I will repeat week 1, because I feel like I would struggle too much with week 2 right now.ย  Maybe next week the weight will start going down, so it will make it easier to run. ๐Ÿ˜€

Tomorrow

We are off to see the new Avengers movie tomorrow morning. Then I have a Pokemon EX raid to do later in the afternoon. May or may not get to doing things in World of Warcraft in the night. I want to get the dishes done, and get some food made for the week.

My Journey to a Healthy Me, Day 117

Well, I completed the first week of C25k

I think that I will repeat week 1 next week. The difference is 60 second runs vs 90 second runs. I probably could try for Week 2, but I know I already am slowing down on the run parts, to make sure I last for all 8 sessions. If I have to repeat it a few times, I am OK with this.

Weight loss

It has been a struggle this week so far. Today, I weighed in at 317.5 lbs. I’ve been I got up to 318 a couple of days. So very much a stall week it seems. It might be more water retention, stress, or my body just resisting after having a couple of weeks of bigger weight loss. Nothing to do, but keep pushing forward. The weight loss will come.

Thursday

I was busy. I didn’t get out to walk in the morning. A lot easier when I am motivated in the morning. I did get to the dentist. At bowling, I did OK. I wasn’t that happy with how I bowled.

Food:

04/26 MyFitnessPal – 1631 Calories, 9 net carbs. Made a chicken crusted pizza for dinner. ๐Ÿ™‚ Last two mornings, blood sugars have been in the 70s again. So they are better.

Sleep:

12:30 am to 8:30 am. 7 hrs 37 mins total. 18 x Awake for 30 mins. Got to bed roughly on time. Also got in my reading. Overall slept well. Neck has been hurting though, so it is cause some discomfort when trying to sleep.

Exercise:

If I call yesterday my rest day, then I am still on track to hit 6,000 steps 6 out of 7 days.

Fitbit shows 3002 steps. 68 mins active. Not bad for not doing much. Mostly bowling, and a bit of moving around during the day.

The weekend

I need to get blood work done, but that might be done Monday. I have a “Star of the game” bowling tournament to do tomorrow. Also I have my son’s bowling in the morning. Sunday, we are going to see the New Avengers movie, and my older son and I have a Pokemon Go EX raid to do.

I want to try to get some meal prep done, and well as making a few new things.

My Journey to a Healthy Me, Day 116

Well, today has been harder. I think mentally, I am getting in a funk with the whole wife losing her job and all. I try to not freak out, but I was freaking out when I was trying to sleep. So I went to bed late last night, and I did not get out for a walk today.

Bowling tonight was ok, just not as good as I wanted. ๐Ÿ™‚

A positive note, my blood sugars were better this morning. So there’s that. ๐Ÿ™‚ I also made my dentist appointment. She gave me two movie tickets for leaving a review on Google, so score!

Wednesday

Yesterday was decent. I got in Day 2 of C25k, which is huge. Played with some friends online. On the downside, my wife lost her job. So the worry and stress meter has gone up. I know things will be fine, just the way I am.

Food:

04/25 MyFitnessPal – 1651 Calories, 12 net carbs. Good on my eating window. Had a KetoConnect Cheddar bay Biscuit. This time I got the measurements correct, and it was much better.

Sleep:

1:49 am to 8:53 am. 22 x Awake for 59 mins total. There is is. I got a little freaked out. Stayed up later and later. Then decided I would ready for a little bit. It didn’t calm me enough, so I spent some time in bed freaking out a bit. Then I woke up a few times.

Exercise:

6,534 steps. 66 active minutes. I also got in Day 2 of C25k. No picture since the phone crashed.

Tomorrow

Shopping time. I need to get to Costco for a few items, and to fill up the gas tank. Plus, Day 3 of C25k in the morning.

My Journey to a Healthy Me, Day 115

This morning, I did complete C25K Day 2. Unfortunately, my phone crashed during the cooldown walk, so it didn’t save. Then my phone crashed 2 more times today. So not happy with that. I was pretty sore today too. A bit yesterday, and more today. My muscles freaking out over being used!

I also missed my dentist appointment today. Mostly because I thought it was next week. So I rescheduled for tomorrow.

The scale this morning should a little gain. Seems like this is a big stall week for me. Might be from tracking my water, and taking more in. Will see how it tracks into next week.

Then the big bomb of the day happened. My wife lost her job. They were shrinking down in her area, but it was a little sudden. I’ve been the stay at home Dad for like 8 years now since I was laid off in 2010. So my job skills are 8 years old, and that is forever in computer time. So it would be more likely that she will be able to get a good new job. We have stuff to keep up a float for awhile. I’m just started to freak a little. Time to cut back on subscriptions and other costs we have been living with. Everything happens for a reason. So who knows what the next few months might hold for us now. ๐Ÿ™‚ Maybe be in 5 months, we are living in another state or something haha.

Tuesday

Tuesday went well. I got out for a walk in the morning. Also took a bit more of a walk when I picked up my son from school. Later on, I raided in World of Warcraft.

Food:

04/24 MyFitnessPal –ย 1683 Calories, 18 net carbs. 63 oz of water tracked. Quite a bit less then Monday haha. Though running, and bowling I used more water. A side note, my blood sugars have been getting lower in the last two mornings, so I need to make sure I watch this.

Sleep:

12:01 am to 8:03 am. 8 hrs 3 mins total. 20 x awake for 49 mins. I got my reading in down on time, and was off to bed on time. Had a bit of trouble actually getting to sleep, and had a wake up a little after 4 for whatever reason. Otherwise, sleep seemed fine.

Exercise:

6,427 steps 56 active minutes. Just enough to get over the 6,000 goal for the day. Like I mentioned earlier, it was a walk in the morning, and then a walk in the park near the school my son goes to.

This week

Chores and more chores. Plus, I still need to get a few items at the store. I will probably go after my dentist appointment tomorrow.

My Journey to a Healthy Me, Day 114

Whew, what a day yesterday. Probably my best day in a long time.

I started off the day with running C25k Day 1. I originally was just going to walk, but I decided to try to get the run in. I was able to finish it, didn’t die haha. ๐Ÿ˜€

Then I had bowling last night.

Food:

04/24 MyFitnessPal – 1577 Calories, 12 net carbs. 105 oz of water tracked. I also ate in my eating window. I’m going for 11 am to 6 pm right now. I was eating after 11:30, and done before 5:30 yesterday. I also got that water tracked.

Sleep:

12:07 am to 8:06 am. 7 hrs 59 mins total. 23 x awake for 23 mins. I ran out to get some Pokemon in Pokemon Go with my son, but I was back up right at 11 pm. Then I was off to read. After that, into bed. Sleep felt decent, but it was warmer, and I was up a couple of times.

Exercise:

Like I said earlier, I did C25k Day 1 yesterday. This week, I am trying to make sure I get in my 6,000 step goal a day. Sunday will be rest day. Yesterday, I hitย 7,107 steps in. 68 active minutes.

Today, and this week

Well, I got in a walk this morning. Trying to make this the new normal. Looks like I still need more steps to reach 6,000 today.

I made some chicken, but have to make more items from my list still. I also need to stop by the store.

Week in review time!

Weight loss

Down 4 lbs this week. That puts me at 50.5 pounds lost since January 1st. I stalled a little this week, but I had been expecting that. So hopefully, I continue to lose more weight this week. I can see the land of TwoTopia coming soon! ๐Ÿ˜€

So yesterday was complete guess work. I could be more calories and carbs then that, or maybe a bit lower. Hopefully lower! ๐Ÿ˜‰ It is OK though. the rest of the week was pretty good, though I had some higher carb days. My blood sugar got a little low a couple of the days, so I might have to be more aware of when I eat higher carb mealsย  Oddly enough, the last couple of days have been alright. I think adding in a strawberry spiked up the blood sugars enough. haha.

Overall, I felt I was getting this back on track this week. I did have a couple of late nights. Will be getting this in more control this week. I also can’t believe I am more then half way through book 5 of the Expanse series. Good thing I have book 6 ready. Though I don’t know what to read after that.

Today, and this week

Well, to celebrate my 50 lbs lost, I completed Day 1 of C25k. ๐Ÿ™‚

Barely made it, and I am still feeling weak. I did it though. I was going to wait for a couple more weeks to try, but I just was in the mood to try today. It was sunny out, so I need to remember a hat for next time. It felt great being out there again. I’m only slightly embarrassed. T.M.I. moment ahead. When I run, my gut makes noise. Because it is bouncing and slapping around. So, I have my own cheering squad with me as I run. haha. I had this problem years ago too when I ran. Still, it isn’t stopping me, just makes me feel embarrassed.

I have bowling tonight, and that should get me to my 6,000 step goal. I plan on walking in the morning, and getting 6,000 steps each day this week. Next week, I bump it to 7,000.

I also need to get some cooking done, and a little shopping. I have some easy convenience foods around, so it isn’t like I will be tempted by bad stuff. I just want to make some new items to try out.

Hopefully, everyone out there is still going strong. I know some people have stopped their New Years Resolutions. It is never to late to get back on the horse!

My Journey to a Healthy me, Day 112

Today went OK overall. I am probably higher on calories, and carbs they I like to be. Hopefully, not enough to kick me out of keto.

I started off the morning with some meatballs and some walnuts. I had packed up some of the walnuts to eat on the way there as well. The drive took about 1 1/2 hours. I finished off the walnuts before getting there. Once there at Double Decker Lanes, I went in to scope out the place. ๐Ÿ™‚ I arrived early enough.

Sometimes, but not always, Match clubs that host will also supply food to eat. Today was a day were they provided food. I was hungry too for whatever reason. So I decided to check out what was around. There were some meatballs in a sauce, a ranch dressed salad, and I grabbed a Strawberry. I guessed in MyFitnessPal as what it was I ate.

Bowling was ok, but a bit rough. I felt good though.

It took over 2 hours to get home. I grabbed McDonald’s for the family, but didn’t get any for me. Since I was not sure of my true numbers, I wanted to try eating little carbs. I made an Omelet, and had a couple of pieces of bacon. Will see how my weight is the next couple of days to see if this effected me that much.

Saturday

I had a great time at the Hockey game, and they won. ๐Ÿ™‚ Oddly, I was hungry after coming home. I just stuck it out and drank more water though.

Food:

04/21 MyFitnessPal – 1571 Calories, 13 net carbs. I had a strawberry with dinner, and I wonder if that is what was helping to trigger hunger later on.

Sleep:

12:10 am to 8:48 am. I got all the sleep ๐Ÿ™‚ Felt like a pretty good sleep overall. Had one wake up at like 7 am, but otherwise it was great.

Tomorrow

Time to start up on the NerdFitness Challenge. I plan on getting up and doing my usual routine, plus take measurements and pictures. Then I am going for a walk. I’m going to really try getting the exercise in the mornings.

My Journey to a Healthy Me, Day 111

I have a hockey game to get to tonight. ๐Ÿ™‚ San Jose Barracuda vs Tucson Roadrunners. The Barracuda lost game 1, so they need to win tonight. Best of 5 game series.

I’ve also been trying to think of how I will handle my eating tomorrow. I have Match club bowling at Double Decker Lanes in Rohnert Park. 1.5 to 2 hour drive for me, depending on traffic. So I plan to leave by 10:30 am. I figure bowling should be done by 4-4:30 pm, if we get started on time at 1 pm. I am guessing it will be a 2 hour drive home at least. My normal eating window is 12 to 6 pm. So I think tomorrow, I am breaking that. There look to be some options for food around there. So I either take some things with me, or I eat early, then grab something on the way home to eat. Otherwise, I just eat something when I get home.

Nerdfitness

It’s that time again. The next challenge over at the Nerdfitness forums starts Monday the 23rd. I setup my new challenge thread as well. Tateman – Zero in on TwoTopia.

My usual Keto/IF with tracking goal, plus I am adding water tracking. Sleep goal is added again as well. I hope to get this going this challenge. I also have an exercise goal back. My hope this time, is that I can build up to doing some regular exercise. Walking to start, and build up from there. The exercise is one thing I really want to get going. So hopefully, it works! ๐Ÿ™‚

Friday

Friday was pretty busy. Went and got some shopping done. Tried a low carb 3 minute microwave cheddar biscuit, and got my NerdFitness challenge thread done.

Food:

04/20 MyFitnessPal – 1494 Calories, 18 net carbs. Higher carbs on the day, but I stayed under 20.

Sleep:

Horrible sleep. I was up too late, and then decided I should read still haha. 2:20 am to 7:47 am. I can feel the drain on me today.

Tomorrow

The biggest item tomorrow is bowling, and how to handle the food. I think I have some ideas that should help out. I won’t have time to meal prep really, so that might have to happen on Monday.
