Month: June 2018

My Journey to a Healthy Me, Days 163 – 169

Whew, it has been a few days. Moving still sucks! haha.

We had my son’s graduation party this last weekend. We had a few family members show, and some cancel. Everything went pretty well. My sister is doing Keto eating too, so we had similar things to eat.

My sister and her kids got here on Friday, and left today. My Dad and his wife has been here since Tuesday. This morning they went down to Southern California to visit some friends, but will be back up here Tuesday night. They will fly out really early on Wednesday.

So with family being in town, not much moving is happening. This Unfortunately means we need to do a bunch tonight. Movers come tomorrow morning. We are having them get the heavy things. We will move the rest.

Father’s Day

For the first time in a long time, I got to spend Father’s Dad with my father. 🙂 We went over to Happy Hollow Park and Zoo. Only my brother was missing.

We say animals, and the kids rode some rides. Lots of fun, some sunburn.

Week Wrap Up

This last week was a lot tougher then I have had in awhile. Lots of eating out, but I tried to make sure I was Keto. I still tried tracking, but there was some things that were just not correct.

Weight Loss

Tuesday, I got myself out of the 300’s. My weight stayed pretty consistent, then took another small jump today.

Down to 294 lbs this morning. Even with all the nights of eating out. That is 6.6 lbs lost this week, and 73.6 total since January 1st.

Since I knew I would be eating out more, I tried to prepare myself. Some days, I only ate once. Last night we went to a BBQ place, and it was the only meal I had that day. Other times, I tried sticking to meats and salads. Overall, I felt like it worked, but I am glad to get back to a little of the way I was eating before. Moving next week, then bowling will provide another challenge.

Food

06/11 MyFitnessPal – 1783 Calories, 8 net carbs
06/12 MyFitnessPal – 1913 Calories, 11 net carbs
06/13 MyFitnessPal – 1853 Calories, 13 net carbs (could be a few more carbs)
06/14 MyFitnessPal – 1287 Calories, 18 net carbs
06/15 MyFitnessPal – 2240 Calories, 29 net carbs (should be lower carbs at least)
06/16 MyFitnessPal – 1060 Calories, 33 net carbs (should be lower carbs)
06/17 MyFitnessPal – 1238 Calories, 15 net carbs

2 days I was over 20 net carbs, but I don’t think I was in reality. The 15th we ate at Outback. I had a wedge salad with ranch, but no croutons. I also only had a bit of the broccoli and cheese. It was a weird cheese sauce, and wasn’t that great.

On the 16th, we ate at Dave and Busters for the party. I had a big salad, but I had no onions, croutons, or candied pecans with it. So good luck figuring out what I really ate.

I figured I had no real adverse effects so far, so I probably didn’t break Keto.

06/17 – 1:56 am to 9:26 am. 6 hrs 57 mins. 17 x awake for 33 mins

Some days good, some days bad. I did at least read each night before heading to bed. Hopefully, I can get better on track soon.

This week

Moving continues. Movers are here Tuesday, Thursday we have Comcast moving the TV/Internet service. On Friday, I drive 7 hours to bowl near Los Angeles on Saturday and Sunday. Then after bowling on Sunday, I head back home for 7 hours. So no rest!

My Journey to a Healthy Me, Day 162

Today was the day!

298.5 lbs 🙂 Of course, I bet I gain 3 pounds tomorrow just because haha.

January 13th, 2015 was my last time being below 300 lbs. I was already back on the incline, but had one last little dip back below 300. Of course, then I ballooned way back up. Now, I am on the down swing. September 9th, 2013 was my first time ever below 300, at least after high school or early 20s. Now to continue on, and beat my previous low weight of 257.5 lbs.

5 months until my birthday. I wonder if I could make 50 lbs by then. I guess it depends on how bad I want it. haha. Still, weight loss shouldn’t be the real focus. How I feel, and how much healthier I am becoming again is the real star. The weight loss is the side effect of the hard work.

This just goes to show you, no matter how busy or stressed, you can get it done. Sometimes it is incredibly hard. These last couple of weeks have by no means been easy. If I can do it though, then everyone can do it. You just need to find the path that is going to work for you. Keto is doing it for me, but not everyone can do Keto.

My Dad is in town today, so tonight we went out to eat. I had already had some food, but I still ate. We went to IHOP. Warning, don’t get the Omelet if you are on keto. They use pancake batter in the omelet mix. What should be pretty low carb, winds up being like 70-80 carbs. I overate calories wise today a bit, but still maintained the keto eating. Dinner for me there was 3 eggs over easy, with sausage links. I wanted the chicken fried steak, or some of those nice lookign omelets, but I am not ready for that now.

One thing that does help, is that I know I will feel like garbage after downing a ton of carbs. It has happened the couple of times I went off Keto this year. Like a rock sitting in your stomach.

Moving is going. It feels like there is still so much to do, but really, we have made great progress. Today I finished building the bed for my oldest son. We also moved over almost all of the kitchen items. We have a few things here still, since we are still living here. Just now we have a lot more paper plates and bowls. haha.

I may not be getting my steps in, but I have been getting that stair climbing done. Fitbit says 17 floors today.

Tomorrow

My wife has an interview up in San Francisco. She had a few calls today that also sounded promising. I might try to get a trip to move some items in the morning. I know my Dad will come over at some point to hang out.

My Journey to a Healthy Me, Day 159-161

Another 3 day split on my blog posting. Man, moving sucks! Hopefully, I will get this all done soon, and get back to my regular activity schedule.

I have mostly been moving, packing, and gettign rid of old items. I did manage to make some KetoConnect.net Chocolate Peanut butter fat bombs.

They came out really good. Though my wife thought they were too bitter. I like the dark chocolate though, so they were fine for me. I think I could work on the sweetener level a bit though.

Still, these have been pretty good to help out with any sweet tooth issues. Oddly enough, I haven’t had sweet cravings too much. Just wanted a Chocolate chip milkshake the other day, and ice cream.

Let’s review last week.

Weight Loss

OHH SO CLOSE! 300.5 lbs today. Maybe this will be the week I dip back into the two hundred range. 2.1 lbs lost this last week, 67.1 lbs since I started on January 1st.

Food

06/04 MyFitnessPal – 1761 Calories, 5 net carbs
06/05 MyFitnessPal – 1721 Calories, 16 net carbs
06/06 MyFitnessPal – 1851 Calories, 10 net carbs
06/07 MyFitnessPal – 1737 Calories, 17 net carbs
06/08 MyFitnessPal – 1712 Calories, 15 net carbs
06/09 MyFitnessPal – 1748 Calories, 8 net carbs
06/10 MyFitnessPal – 1721 Calories, 10 net carbs

My eating has been fine. I have mostly been trying to stick with the intermittent fasting as well, but some days I eat early. I haven’t had any late eating, or snacking though. I feel pretty good about how I have been sticking with this. There are getting more and more limited options while we move though. Hopefully, I can make quick and easy stuff to eat. Then at least, I don’t worry so much.

Sleep

06/04 – 2:08 am to 9:20 am. 5 hrs 36 mins. 13 x awake for 1 hr 36 mins
06/05 – 12:12 am to 8:58 am. 7 hrs 37 mins. 18 x awake for 1 hr 9 mins

06/10 – 1:12 am to 8:08 am. 6 hrs 0 mins. 16 x awake for 56 mins

Again, I had some off days. A little freak out, a little just me doing stuff. I did read each day before I went to bed. Just sometimes, the times were off.

Moving

I am making my way through my list of items, and of course, finding new things to add to the list. We are hoping to get the big move part done next week I believe.

This next week

It will be harder and harder for me to have options to stay keto, but I am hoping to keep it simple. Meatballs, pork rinds, whatever 🙂

My Journey to a Healthy Me, Days 156-158

Well, I start off today with bad news. They place my wife had multiple interviews with “decided to go another direction” This left everyone wondering why. Alas, we move on. We were very hopeful on this one. Now to move on to others. Good thing my wife hasn’t given in on any other opportunities that have come up so far.

Nothing too much of interest is happening so far. It has just been moving. We did get some items moved over to storage. I got some really nasty bruises out of it. 🙂

More things are getting setup at the new place. Tomorrow, I am going to move my son’s TV and TV stand over. Then I need to get his bed frame built.

It is the last day of school for my youngest. No more 1st grade. 🙂

I’m sorry I haven’t been getting in my blog posts. Just seems like not too much going on, and then it gets late. I did have a late night last night, but otherwise, not too bad for sleeping.

I guess I will just keep it short and sweet tonight.

Mentally, I am very stressed. So hopefully, it isn’t going to effect everything else. 🙂

My Journey to a Healthy Me, Days 152-155

I have been really busy lately with all this moving business! I have been neglecting my blogging duties.

So since it is Monday, I may as well just get into my week in review.

Weight Loss

I am down to 302.6 lbs this morning. Had another one of those woosh moments. My weight fluctuated quite a bit this week. I was at 303 on day, then 305 two days ago. Oh well, I am sticking with things, and am getting closer to that under 300 mark. As of today, I have lost 65 lbs since January 1st. I am pretty happy with that.

Food

05/28 MyFitnessPal – 1791 Calories, 9 net carbs
05/29 MyFitnessPal – 1838 Calories, 10 net carbs
05/30 MyFitnessPal – 1846 Calories, 14 net carbs
05/31 MyFitnessPal – 1737 Calories, 13 net carbs
06/01 MyFitnessPal – 1756 Calories, 6 net carbs
06/02 MyFitnessPal – 1798 Calories, 11 net carbs
06/03 MyFitnessPal – 1736 Calories, 2 net carbs

I had still been tracking water, but I think I am not going to worry about it too much now. Tracking food is enough. 🙂 I did have a few higher calorie days this week. Though I though with moving, maybe it would work out. I reevaluated my macro this morning. Looks like my new target for Calories is 1766. Of course a bit more if I start working out and such. Soon!

Sleep

I started getting this back on track, but over the last couple of days, I fell off again. Last night was the biggest slip. I went to bed at 2 am. I do feel rested though, but that is because I slept till almost 9:30 am.

I have been reading before bed. Even last night.

Moving

Just to updated, we did fished getting through quite a lot of items this week. The roll off bin was picked up today, and we pretty much had it filled. Only had 4 times people dug through it, and we had to re-clean it up.

Tomorrow, we move stuff to the storage unit we got.

At the new place, I built up almost all of the new items we have. Just need to build the oldest kids bed.

Still lots to do for this month.

This week

It is still all about that moving. I did check out the gym at the apartment complex, and it is ok. Dumbells, and some pulley machine for weights. Elliptic and treadmill for cardio. I might need to take advantage of what is there soon.

Also side not, my ankle hasn’t been bothering me lately. Slight pain from time to time, but not like it was. Hopefully, I can get back into exercise after the move is done.
